A delivery story that has all the makings of a comedy....
8-7-17 was the day our daughter was born...at almost 5pm. Labor started at 1am 8-6-17.
This:
This is my C-Section scar. As far as scars go, it's not so bad. In Fact, it's pretty bad ass. I didn't get it fighting or doing some crazy stunt. It wasn't something I was hoping for to make me look tough. This scar is how my daughter came into the world. This scar is how I became a mom.
I didn't plan it that way, but that's how it happened and I am going to wear it like a damn badge of honor. I am not less of a mom because after almost 40 hours of labor, a medical team had to go and get my daughter.
This scar is how my daughter came into the world.
After being in labor and not progressing past 6cm in almost 40 hours, it was time.
The fact that when they finally decided they were going to get my daughter and I didn't fight them on it, doesn't make me less of a mom. The fact that I closed my eyes during it and focused on breathing doesn't mean I didn't 'give birth' to my daughter.
What the hell is taking so Long?!?!?
The fact that I remember my husband telling me I was pretty and I was doing awesome and I remember thinking, 'what the hell is taking so long' doesn't belittle my experience.
I went into this with one plan, and i repeated it to anyone who asked: When this is done, however it happens, my daughter and I go home happy, healthy and together. If that meant a C-Section, a birth ball, a vampire chant, I did not care. That was my plan and I was sticking to it.
That promise was kept- with a quick stop at the NICU for baby and a blood transfusion for me, but we left. Happy, mostly healthy and together when it was time to go home.
As for the 40 hours between 1st contraction and Baby Blanks arrival. I'll save that for next time.
