State of today...

I know, it's been all over everywhere. It feels like we are in one of those movies where the astroid could hit us, or totally not.

Shelves are cleared out at stores, Lysol wipes are a hot commodity, the NBA is cancelling seasons and people everywhere are having schools turn to full online, or close. Work from home is the daily decree and there are online debates around if we're getting a little ahead of ourselves, or not ahead of it enough. I'm camp- we should and could have been way more ready for this...but to each their own.

Well, as I work from home with a crappy cough (don't worry-I've seen a Dr.) I am working on balancing everything while maintaining my sanity around having this kid in about 5 weeks.

I am working, trying to get back to fully healthy so I can finish baby stuff, wash all the bedding, clean the house, and overall feel like I am in a good place for this kid to show up and overall daily life.

I had already started freezer meals, but the recent anxiety in the world has me adding a few easy and freezer or shelf stable things to our list. We daringly hit Costco- not for toilet paper, because I really do NOT understand that one. But, a few extra bottles of water and a container of formula. Just in case that suddenly becomes hot and we need it, as we have for the other kids.

We live pretty far out from the city and people here seem to be cautious, but the grocery store shelves have yet to look like a forgotten wasteland.

I am more of the anxious-ness around the baby coming, and the world still spinning correctly enough that I can go to the hospital as planned and happily deliver a healthy baby boy. Because I have seen some of those movies, and I have no intention of having this kid in my bathtub or car.

Not my image- but seriously, I am not Emily Blunt. I am not having a baby in a bathtub. I won't do well.

Seriously- the reports out of Italy have their hospitals at capacity and struggling. Now I don't expect that here, but I'm not counting anything out. Just because I feel like if I do, I won't be prepped if it happens.

A few weeks ago no one was thinking Harvard would send everyone home at Spring break and have them complete the entire spring semester from their homes, online. I don't think we were expecting entire public school systems to shut, or large corporations to lock travel and enforce WFH policies they had never even had. I mean, this has changed rapidly and per reports, looks like we are still a few weeks away from the eye of the storm as it is.

So, since all of my pregnancies usually go well, and it is the after delivery/delivery that has caused us so much uncertainty in the past, I am planning to have as little unknown as possible in my bubble-since I can't control out of my bubble at all.

The bubble being my house and family. And staying on top of what is happening out of my bubble with a level head, science and facts.

Hoping everyone else is doing the same and staying as safe as they can while not going stir crazy. Seriously for the parents with kids now home for weeks, I am just hoping we don't get to that point here, because I can't have wine-and I feel like it's required to maintain sanity there.

Now, can we please get back to our regularly scheduled programming and figure out a way for this to be history, sooner, rather than later?

Also, I don't usually get political, but still go VOTE! Go early, go by mail, just vote. And while I am firmly team blue, I do not care what team you are- this shit is NO reason for our elections to hit any sort of delays or for any of our elected officials to declare any reason for them to stay in office past our set dates. (Yes, I could 100% see a certain team pull something from a non-existent ruling that lets them hold court until they see fit).

Our economy and citizens are already looking at a long hard battle, especially with so few protections being put in place ::ahem-Italy pausing mortgages-ahem:: we can not let the already in serious uncertainty around it's legitimacy, election system, fail any further.

That's my piece.

Now- Baby Boy- stay right where you are! It's not even April yet!
